International Initiatives to Control Antimicrobial Resistance in the Asia-Pacific Region. April-May 2011, Seoul, South Korea

The main objective of the project is to control and prevent antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the Asia-Pacific region. This project is aiming to enable APEC economies to establish strong national and international infrastructures on AMR and to prepare the future strategies to mitigate the economic and clinical impact on AMR. A Strategic Focus Group (SFG) consisting with experts on Infectious Diseases (ID), microbiology, health science, or veterinary medicine, and healthcare officials from APEC economies and external APEC stakeholders will be formed in order to facilitate information sharing about AMR in the region among each other. An expert forum will be organized to discuss and explore solutions to AMR in the region. Finally, prepare the strategic reports and recommendations to control and prevent AMR in the region.
