One day seminar on the margins of the SOM II scheduled for April 16-24, 2007 in Adelaide, Australia (exact date to be determined.) The purpose of the seminar is to analyze models and consider options to strengthen partnership between public and private stakeholders to establish poultry industry standards and improve veterinary infrastructure to combat HPAI. Successful examples from a number of APEC economies of public-private partnerships in AI surveillance and detection will be shared and discussed. This seminar is intended for senior policy makers from the public and private sectors. Ideally, each APEC economy would be represented by their senior authority for animal health, public health official for emerging infectious diseases, and leaders of the poultry associations.
